Have data plate#...need to know mfg name.

Post by Ynkydynk » Mon Jun 13, 2011 3:24 pm

Hello,
I'm new so forgive my lack of knowledge...I want to get renters ins on my personal property and live in a rented mobile home. In order to get ins,I have to provide the serial # of the home to the ins co,although I don't own it.It's hopeless asking the landlord,he's clueless!!There is no mfg badge on the home anyplace.I don't know who the mfg is,but I did find a data plate on the back of the home. The only # that's on it is TEN009738.Is there someplace I can go to find out who the mfg is and where I can get the serial #? Any help you can give would be certainly appreciated. I live in the state of MD.Thanks!

The Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS), as the Department of Housing and Urban Development's monitoring contractor under the Federal Manufactured Housing Program, has been the sole source of this data since 1976.

The data IBTS maintains comes from manufacturers' production reports. Your HUD labels numbers can be used to determine the serial number.

You can apply for that info at the Institute for Building Technology and Safety web site

Homes built after 1976 have the serial numbers 3/8" in height, on the steel bumper that runs across the front of the home, where the the hitch was attached.

The HUD Plate is a red rectangle on the end of the back side of the home (opposite the hitch)

The data plate is located inside the home. Most of the time in the closets or cabinets.
