Taxes

Post by txteresa » Sat Mar 12, 2011 3:48 pm

I sold my 3 bdrm.Fleetwood to a friend? in 2000, I got a down payment and that is just about it she was on a payment plan Ha Ha no payment.she had 2 daughters I adored. She even jacked our gas card we loaned her.I could go on.She talked me into giving her the title so she could get a truck from another friend/sucker.I had moved on with my life and did not think I would see any money so I gave it to her.I herd from her3 mo.ago and she made a crack about paying for the trailer.I go on line and find she never transferred the title until she sold it in 2005 and moved away.It shows ME owing 1,600 back taxes.2000-2005 The park where it was was sold now closed just a few months ago and they moved the people. They are in the process of trying to help me.Find owner w/record`s.It show`s her from 2005 to 2010 paying tax on it & she didn't live there and when she did she did live there she didn't pay any. What can I do??? hurt and mad as hell Teresa.

Glad you posted...You have a clear example that folks should have professional help when buying or selling a home..It would have been a bargain for you to have paid a few dollars to be sure you were clear for the future..I hope others here see your problem and decide they will need help.As far as what you can do...Talk to the tax authority in your area. You are probably going to be stuck with these as an expensive lesson about process...Good Luck..You are lucky, it could have been worse. You were fully liable as home owner all those years (someone could have fallen out the door and sued you and won).

unfortunately you will be responsable for all taxes while the house was in your name.
