How to choose a good builder in Maryland?
Hi, I am looking to buy a new double wide in the state of Maryland. What are some good builders of homes? I would hate to buy a home from a non reputable dealer. Also, I am trying to figure out the associated costs of owning a mobile home and I wanna make sure I include all charges, are there any hidden charges? The only thing I can come up with is the mortgage, and lot rent. Thank you for your time.

The first thing I recommend is to go to the bookstore on this site and get both of Grissim's guides. One of them rates manufactured homes and the other tell you what to look for in a manufactured home and what to look out for when you start shopping. They are both excellent books and well worth the money.
The after you read the books and have some idea of what you want start visiting some dealerships if you are buying a new home. Take your time and thoroughly check out the dealership. Selecting a dealership is as important as selecting a home, as the dealership can make your experience a cake walk or a nightmare.
If you are planning on putting your home in a park rather than on your own land make sure you thoroughly check out the park. Visit it, talk to folks who are living there, and ask for a copy of the rules. Don't hesitate to search this forum and ask questions. Happy home hunting.

Insaneman1731,
First are you really insane? LOL
I'm curious as to why you are buying a new one as there are many quality, well kept DW available all over the state and in particular, Howard County, where I am. Most around here are in parks, and the quality of the parks vary as do the amenities offered. I happen to live in a very nice park that is well maintained thanks to a really anal owner.
In any event I wish you good luck in your search.
