want to build own home
I am looking to build my own mobile home in florida, just outside of tampa. Is there codes against home owner's building their own mobile home or is there ordances that allow individuals to comply to standards of homes? Where could i find the info?

Re: want to build own home
I have been in Florida for 32 years. There was a time when we could build mobile homes and get a trailer title from the state that said "HOME MADE". Today things are very different. Manufactured homes are no longer trailers that can be pulled on the roads except by special permit.
By definition today's manufactured home is built in a factory to the federal HUD building code. You can build your own home in Florida but not to the federal HUD code. You will have to build in compliance with the state and local regulations and codes. You will also need Florida licensed engineering and contractors for much of the project. Visit your county Building Department for full details.
