Locating a vin number

I represent a seller who purchased a Redman model in 1978 or 1979. The tag/vin number cannot be located. Etched into the side of the home is the number 12208437. Does anyone know what this number means? This could be a discontinued number but not sure. Any help is appreciated.

Where is the number etched ?

Most builders etch the serial number on to the hitch end bumper. Back in the 70s some etched it onto the front door side I-Beam near the hitch end of the home. If you live in a state that require manufactured homes to have titles the serial number would be on the title and or registration. If the title has been retired the office that takes the retirement applications would probably be the place to start.
