Help please, my kitchen window leaking

Post by Linda » Sun Aug 24, 2008 11:09 am

I have 1997 Fleetwood double wide mobile home. About 4 years ago we had a tin roof put on. Haven't had any problems till now. My kitchen window is leaking and in the cabinet beside of it is leaking down the stud on the inside. Today we had alot of rain and looked up to see a huge brown wet spot in front of the cabinet on our ceiling. We have checked our roof and it is good but the water is coming from somewhere. We just can't find where. Can anybody please help me we also have mold in the ceiling at the top of the cabinet in the very back. And my ceiling above my window has water damage. Our air conditioner vent is straight above the kitchen. Could water be some how coming down to the window and making it leak from that vent? Thank you to anyone that maybe able to help us.

Roof leaks are often hard to find because water can be virtually coming in anywhere on that half. There is a vapor barrier in the roof which often catches the water and then it runs on it to the lowest point it can find to run through. Roof vents are often a cause of problems. Resealing it and any others on that half might help solve the problem. The areas where the metal roof are attached is another place to look close and check the seals. Most metal roof contractors supply a very long term leak warranty. Have you called yours for advice? Others here might well have more and better advice. Good Luck
