Start-up of Mobile Home Park

Post by victory » Fri Sep 14, 2007 9:48 am

I'm planning to start-up a mobile home park. My intentions are to rent the lot. My question is do anyone know about how much it would cost to have a space/pad installed?

I think this will have a lot to do with the type of park you envision...I assume by now you have talked to your local land use office for local regulations..These can vary greatly from county to county..In my area you must have at least 15 acres of appropriately zoned property..Many times this can be a large expense in itself..Then development rules are quite different in the various areas...Often you have to have extensive permits from many agencies of the government...In my area just the survey needed for an excavation permit can cost tens of thousands of dollars...All long before you ever turn 1 shovel of dirt...The permitting process can be quite a job for an individual to accomplish...The day of a manufactured home park in the corner of your property, put in by the land owner on a shoe string is basically gone in most areas of the country...Almost everyone contemplating a manufactured home park will have consultants, engineers, architects and by then numerous investors...If you still want to consider a community you might want to visit the bookstore here and purchase the "bible" of community development, marketing, and operations offered there.
