skyline how good are they?

Post by fido49 » Sun Jul 15, 2007 6:03 pm

I'm considering buying a new skyline manufactured home in a 55+ community. How dependable and well built are skyline homes?

Skyline, as most others, builds many different models at its many plants, each with different specs....A trip to the bookstore here might help with the ratings guide offered there....

One thing is for sure they have been around for a long time....

Skyline has been around for a long time. I started my experiences in the MH business selling them for a few years back in the 1970's. To the best of my knowledge Skyline builds a mid-priced product in most of it plants that can be upgraded to include features that you find in the more expensive lines. They have always built a sturdy product and were historically a leader in customer satisfaction. They do have plants across the country and like most major builders produce homes that meet the demand of the local markets

Consider purchasing The Grissim Ratings Guide to Manufactured Homes. This book is a ratings guide to every manufactured home builder across the country. It will assist you with key information home shoppers need to make an informed decision.

At $29.95 it is the best investment you can make as it will give you a listing of every manufactured home builder in the country, their histories, products, price ranges, construction ratings, along with up-to-date information on each company and the products they build.

My wife and I have lived in a Skyline purchased new in '96. Now in the 11th year, no problems whatever...and we live at 7000' with severe winters and hot summers. Would highly recommend Skyline. Ours is on a permanent foundation. They also make very solid travel trailers.
