under the home

What can I put on the ground under my modular home to help keep it dry? The dampness comes up into the house even though we are at the height required for the new Florida rules and the covering under the home is intact.

This should be covered in your installation manual. Most manufacturers either require, or recommend the placement of six mil black plastic on the ground, to act as the ground vapor barrier. Overlap the pieces by 12", and cover the enitre surface beneath the home. Make sure no water enters the crawl space, that could "pond" on the plastic.

Ruth, sounds like you have improper site grading under your home and to place a ground vapor barrier under the home in order to correct the poor site conditions may increase your moisture problems. Notify your manufacture, if you have a new home and let them know about your problem. they are required to check it out.
