outrigger repair

Post by zimmer77 » Sat Jan 13, 2007 2:58 pm

hello have just purchased my firt home and had it delivered. during delivery the wheel/tire came off of one of the axles and "bounced underneath my home. this caused bending, twisting to some of the rear outriggers on that side. i know this is not a good situation structually. anything i can do to repair and or replace the outriggers?

What did the delivery crew say..They should have insurance to cover this kind of problem....Any skilled welder can straighten or fabricate a replacement..I would check with the dealer you bought the home from for a referral.. Most dealers will know of a skilled welder with experience with manufactured homes....Call and ask any of them....

You also need to check the floor joists. When outriggers are damaged the lag screws are often pulled out of the joists which can cause extensive splitting and cracking.

thank you both for the input on this. have not heard from the shipper yet as the person i bought the trailer from arranged to ship it to me. he states he is waiting to for them to contact him. the floor joists all appear to be ok on inspection.
continuing in this same question, i have contacted a welder who said they may be too badly damaged to be saved. anyone know if they can be purchased used or would they have to be fabricated completely from scratch. again thanks for the advice
