Handicap Bars

Post by Michael » Wed Jul 12, 2006 7:45 pm

I recently purchased a new Patriot Crystal Valley double wide manufactured home.
I want to install a handicapped bar on the bath tub wall, torwards the outside wall of the home. The problem that I have run into is the tub is a one piece tub/shower unit and the wall of the tub does not contact the wall of the house. Is there any way to install a bar without taking down the vinyl siding and the outer OSB and building up the space between the tub wall and the interior wall?
Any sugestions will be reatly appreciated.

This could be done with toggle bolts, but is generally accomplished by having a backer of plywood inserted so you have a subtantial surface to mount the bars. Make sure you predrill each hole, so as to avoid spliting the fiberglass.
