Window glass replacement

Post by HavasuBob » Tue Jun 27, 2006 5:45 pm

We have a 1984 Manufactured Home that we bought used. It has three cracked (fixed pane) windows. The windows are side slide 4x4. On the outside the exterior is aluminimum lap siding runs right up to the edge of the window and is caughed with no visiable screws or flange. There are only a couple screws on the inside with strips of paneling wraping the inside edge (or window sill) of the window. We live 80 miles one way from the nearest glass shop and they "Don't Do Mobile Homes". Does anyone have any ideas about how to get the broken pane out without doing major damage to the siding?

Thanks David,
The only window article I found at the link you suggested was on Vinyl window repair/replacement. I wish we had vinyl windows, but they are single pane/ aluminum. The article you suggested is very good, but our windows are nothing like the one in the article. Our windows appear to have some type of sealant or glue and I know I can get the broken pane out, but getting the replacement glass back in the frame will be tricky. And it's that ‘tricky’ is what I am looking for. Thanks again and if I found the wrong article please get back to me with a new link.

Hi Admin,
Your article was very helpful to Me! Thanks so much. One question how do I determine the windo manufacturer? My trailer is a Beckenridge built around 1992.
Thanks
Dave
