We are considering purchasing one of these homes and were wondering if anyone has any experience with this manufacturer.

I don't have any experience but in the Grissim rating guide they are in there. They put a bag of dog food under the sink of every home purchased and he says they have excellent warranty work.

Rick; We have been researching Sunshine for 3 years and have visited homes and find quality to be top notch. These are designed for the hurricane belt south. Type in Sunshine homes and check them out. Make a trip to closest dealer and compare to rest. You will be happy you did. Warranty or problems seems to be top notch also. Very heavy units, built to last and air/heat system is unique. Good luck.

I purchased a 1997 Sunshine Doublewide.

Issues:

1. Roof Shingles started to come off in < 2 years. Just on the hitch end, seems to be transportation related IMHO

2. 2'-0" Floor joist spacing with no knee joists, makes for a springy floor

3. 10K in damage to kitchen, LR & DR caused by improper factory hookup of dishwasher. They formed a "J" Loop in 1/2" CPVC piping to supply the dishwasher and glued the end into a threaded adaptor. This caused a pre-existing strain on the glued joint which resulted in a very fine mist soaking the wallboard abd floor decking causing mold issues.

4. HVAC Ductwork outlets very poorly assembled, resulting in massive air EXfiltration from the house.

5. Floor insulation: Installed the cheapest way possible! Unfaced batts layed perpendicliar to the floor joists and retained by the belly barrier. End result: hard to repair insulation when the belly had to be cut when the water pressure blew off an improperly made connection on the master bath hot water line.

6. Windows that came apart after 2 years
