Is it possible to take off panel tack strips and then tape texture and paint gypsm wall boards?

I sure hope so because I've already got my new sheetrock nailed up and taped. LOL!

I did notice that parts of the wall paneling are glued rather than stapled so you have to do a bit a chiseling to get a smooth unlumpy stud. The biggest pain I had was finding electrical boxes to fit in 2 X 3 studs (1 1/2 X 2 1/2) instead of full 3 1/2" studs.

Where did you find your electrical boxes? I also put up new sheetrock, textured the walls and love the ending results. I've had done this to our first home and never had any problems.
