additions

I just purchased a 2006 32x80 and before moving in I would like to add a 24x24 addition. The wife and kids get the house. This would be my office and workshop. I've read and looked at alot of material but can't seem to locate any good resources pertaining to this subject.

I would appreciate any input or links to guide me.

Thanks in advance,
William

I added a 20x24 master bedroom addition on to my 1979 manufactured home. I went through the county for permits. It is built per all existing codes for stick frame construction. In our state, Washington, the Dept of Labor and Industries deals with any kind of modifications to the manufactured home. So I had to go through them for house stuff. The major thing is that the addition had to have its own independent foundation and the weight of the new building could not bear on the home. The only extra weight was a small roof tieing in the addition to the house. It was a fun project and really added to the livibility and value of our older home. I would suggest contacting your local building department and get the info you need. Good luck!

The addition shouldn't be a problem; however, the HUD Code requires that you independently support the addition so that no weight/loads are transfered to the manfuactured home.
