New MFH / Need a Good Final Inspector
New MFH / Need a Good Final Inspector
We have put up a Feetwood manufactured home.." Very Nice !" But we are still concerned about everything being properly inspected from top to bottom, Before, we move in.. And would like to know how to find Inspectors that are knowledgeable in " Inspections of Manufactured Homes ".. We have put alot of effort and work into this project.. not counting dollars and time , to get where we are, and just want to be sure everything is properly done , Nothing left out ! OR.. Nothing we have missed that we will have to pay for later Or possibably have paid for already that is Not our responsibility... It has been put on what we are told is a permanent foundation, which we would like to have inspected.. with an "on-site" built garage almost completed. Our concern is to keep the value of the property Up. The home looks great , but we don't want the fact that it "looks so good" leading us to think everything is properly done, without any problemsThere has been alot of work done by the contractor hired to do "ALL" set-up in order to move into the home , as well as build the garage. The home is a 3 part, 2,600 + sq. ft. home. and has been alot to go through for us , taking 7 mos. to get to this point , and we are still not in it yet.. !! This also concerns us !! " Which is Why we would like to hire our own independent inspector to double check this home under the strict guidelines we are told that they are made now.. " We are in the San Joaquin County area, and this home has been put up under the county codes." to re-cap the question ..... Does anyone or Has anyone had an independent inspector come to inspect there New Manufactured Home , including the Set UP and the site built garage ?? This is a large investment for us , we want to make sure that is Totally Inspected by a Knowledgebal Manufactured Home Inspector.. (including experience with new permanent foundation under it,.plus the knowledge to inspect the site-buile garage, all hook-up's included.. which is not yet complete at this time.We would like it inspected , Now and at Finished Date !! .. Thank You , Ginny
Re: New MFH / Need a Good Final Inspector
I just want to say congrats on your new home. I also agree that getting an independent inspection before all the final checks are signed is a great idea. I've never heard of anyone doing that and in this day and age of shoddy contractors, it's a marvelous idea. However I'm not familiar with anyone in your area who does inspections. Sometimes a reputable mobile home repairman can give you leads, or come out and do some of the inspection themselves.
Good luck!

Ginny,
It will be very, very hard to find someone that knows about manufactured home set up to come and look at your house. Even the people in the business rarely know.
Your first problem is that you bought a Fleetwood. Look at some of the consumer complaint sites (like thesqueakywheel.com) and you will see Fleetwood leds the industry in consumer complaints.
You can do your own inspection of the home with the installation manual in hand.
you can determine where peir supports are needed (each side of the exterior doors in a Fltwd, anchors, lags at the mate line)
Good luck!
