New, bigger sink = new countertops???

Hi there. My husband and I just bought our first mobile home here in Hendersonville; we've been in "regular" homes all our lives and had NO IDEA that mobile means "non-standard."

The issue we're dealing with now is the sink...it's 33 x 19 with a double bowl...and WAY TOO SMALL for a family of five. Not to mention that the garbage disposal part is on the left and the dishwasher (also too small) is on the right!

So we set out to find a sink and have come to learn that contractors are afraid of cutting our countertop to fit a 33x22 into the space. We also learned that NOBODY MAKES a 33x19 single bowl sink! Crazy!

What other options do we have? We don't want to redo all the cabinetry; it's in great condition. But we wouldn't mind re-doing the countertops and backsplash, which for some crazy reason is wood (and already getting moldy after just five years).

We are having this exact same problem. We cannot find a single bowl for a 33x19 inch sink. We would have to redo all the antique cabinets in this 1920s house to get a decent sized sink. Does anyone know if its possible to get a single bowl 33x19? Please help.

Well at least this is not unique to manufactured homes....

Go for the new countertop. Measure the depth of your base cabinets (from the wall out). If they are 24", you can use the pre-made countertops available at home improvement stores. Many stores will also cut the sink hole for you at the store. Be aware that a new sink will usually be deeper than the old one and there must be enough clearance in the base cabinet.

Actually we went to Home Despot and found many sinks in 33x19 to order (about 10 days) which ranged from $500 Kohler to &139.00 plastic resin that were 8 and 9 in deep in the size, or favorite. Lowes had a small stainless for $57 in stock that was no better than our existing one. See www.thermocastsinks.com

Add me to the single bowl sink crusade. I found the usual 33 x 19 in various depths on eBay through some stores. An eBay store called "Star Mobile Home Supply" has this sink. 33" x 19" White Composite Acrylic Sink
9" Depth with a buy it now price of $129 + 24 shipping. But sadly, it too is double bowled. It's a shame that mfd home owner have to have construction work done to accommodate standard merchandise. I've read that single bowl sinks are making a big comeback for ease of cleaning pot/pans. Guess someone needs to tell that to sink manufacturers and to manufactured home builders. I tried that link listed in prior post for Sterling, but the model number didn't bring anything up and their parts catalog is off line. I may phone them up to see what they have.
