Mystery Toilet
Mystery Toilet
Here's a strange happening. If I run water anywhere in my house at night, as soon as I turn the water off my one toilet starts to run. It only happens at night and it only happens with the toilet closest to the main water feed to the house. It starts running and continues for about 30 seconds. This is a 2 year old Schult with 2 bathrooms. Any ideas???
Re: Mystery Toilet
City water?
During the day there's a lot of water usage. At night not so much, hence main line water pressure is higher at night than in the daytime. My guess would be that your in-tank water float shut-off valve is wearing out.
When you run your water anywhere in the house you decrease pressure to the tank valve. The valve relaxes every so slightly by that pressure. Then when you shut the tap water off your house water pressure suddenly increases. The tank valve is sluggish so the extra pressure forces water through it until the float increases pressure enough on that valve to shut it off again.
Of course, this is all theory. The only pressure I really know anything about is EMF's......a/k/a VOLTS! LOL!
OK, go on! I'll take your wise cracks!
