Dryer Vent

Post by andrew martin » Fri Oct 07, 2005 9:37 am

What is the proper way to vent a dryer?

Can the vent go through the floor, make a right turn and then go through the skirting with a flapper on the outside? Instead of going through the floor can the vent pipe go through the bottom of a closet to the exterior wall and attached to a flapper vent? If it goes through the closet should the pipe have any insulation around it?

The vent currently goes under the home and puts the hot-moist air from the dryer into the area under the home. I assume this is not good.

Thanks,

Andrew

Yes, it must vent outside, with as few bends as possible. Do this sooner rather than later. Your first idea looks best.

yes sooner is most advised most older mobile homes that use gas water heaters and furnaces draw there air from under the home. Might want to check and make sure they arnt glogged with lint.
