HI, hope someone can help me with this one. I own a 1986 single wide mobile home. I have discovered that the 2 x 6" support beams that sit on the frame of the mobile home and support the wall and hold the floor are all rotted.
I need to find out how to go about replacing the rotted boards. Then replacing the portion of the studs that have rotted and of course this is going to lead to having to replace that portion of the flooring under the studs that has meldted away as the floors are particle board and has softened in several aread away from the wall.
I know this is going to be a job and am going to attempt to do this myself.
If anyone would know of an agency somewhere who would be able to help me with the expence and labor of this little project please let me know also.
I am a do it yourselfer granny with a disability and I try to do it all myself. I fear that this job maybe one that I can't handle on my own.
Replacement of Wall bearing beams
Re: Replacement of Wall bearing beams
Looks like you pretty much nailed it on the head as to how big of a job this will be. It's quite a job. Basically you need to support the roof, remove the wall, cut back the floor and then you can finally get at things for repairs. There's a few tricks to make it a little less involved -- but it's still a big job!
