outside entry carpet ritzcraft home

I recently purchased 1985 ritzcraft model that has carpeted entry outside; before the entrance door sill.

the carpet is poor and i wish to replace it. it seems to have been assembled
at time of delivery.

has anyone replaced this portion?
what did you do as an alternative?
are there replacement materials that would work better?

Most of the time I just removed the old carpet and glued down outdoor carpeting. Be sure the subfloor underneath is in good shape as its common for it to get soft.
