Re: ROOF LEAK
MY HOUSE IS ONLY 10 YEARS OLD. IF MY INSURANCE WILL NOT HELP ME WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?
Re: ROOF LEAK
You....homeownership has many responsibilities...taking care of your families health and welfare is number 1....
Re: ROOF LEAK
I only work for palm harbor...just a 1 of thousands of employees..I am NOT in policy management...And I NO WAY speak for the company...here or anywhere else...
This post had notthing to do with PH..The builder was Destiny..long ago bankrupt...Most likely the delear is long gone as well...who do you think should worry about this fellows family....
Ultimate responsibility for your family's safety and welfare is the homeowners....I say this as Bob Murray..a long time industry veteran...A person who has sold and delivered thousands of homes...
If the manufaftrueer and dealer were still in business...A HUD complaint might get some action...But in this instance they can do nothing....
Your out of context comment is totally uncalled for...

Re: ROOF LEAK
This is someone asking for help, rather than platitudes. That said:
The company and/or the setup crew, or both, were responsible at one point, but may not now be responsible, depending on your warranty and their solvency (you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip). So you may well be on your own at this point.
So: Priority #1 is finding and fixing the source of the leak. After that is done, things will dry out. After that, you will need to find the extent of the damage. It should be limited to the area in the center of the home. You may not need to replace all the sheetrock in that area, but if you do, it isn't impossible. The walls are built like any house, with studs and sheetrock. It might also be possible to spray bleach inside the walls to kill anything inside.
Mold is a hot button for insurance companies. Visit an attorney (many will consult for free) to see if you can get your insurance company to cover the damage, provided you release them from mold liability. Just because the insurance company says they won't cover it, that's not necessarily the final answer. It's their first answer, to see if you will go away.
Take a look at the repair book sold here as well. Sheetrock is not particularly expensive or difficult to work with.
Best of luck,
Mac
