I would like to repaint the kitchen, don't mind the joints, can I just paint over the walls? Does it take a special kind of paint? etc. Thanks for any input

Hi..

If I use spackling without tape to fill the butt joints after I remove the strips, will I run the risk of cracks in my wall texturing?

How thick a coating of plaster should I apply to the wall as I try to texture?

I've never done this before, and I worry about the plaster cracking and/or falling off the wall.

I welcome any and all advice.

Hi. I would like to see some pictures of what you've done. I am in the middle of taking off all the strips and putting compound in the seams. I think maybe I should have used some sort of tape with the compound, but it's too late now! Anyway, I want to take off the strips in the corners, but how do you fill the big gap where the two walls meet in the corners? I am new to doing any of this so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I, too would love to see some photos of interior jobs. One problem we have is that in our sons room, on one of the outside walls along the back of the house, the vinyl wall boad inside is "wavy". We bought the home brand new in 1997. This is also the case on one of the outside walls on the end of the home in the master b/r. What would cause this? Do you have to sand the vinyl or just prime with kilz or something? Also, if you put up sheetrock, would you remove the vinyl wall panels or just put the sheetrock up over them? If you put it up over them, what will happen with the 'wavy" walls, will they need to come down? Also, someone mentioned the wood flooring, was that in a double wide? How do you handle the marriage joint along the floor? Is there a space or anything you have to fill there? Thanks for any help!

I live in a Fleetwood 1995 Doublewide and want to do things to make it fell like a house. I was wondering how you exactly go about painting the walls, and with what type of paint do you use. currently there is the original manufactured wallpaper up on all of the walls except the kitchen. Also, can you pull up all the carpet to put down some cheaper hardwood flooring?? Help...

Yes you can surely pull up carpet...we pulled it up day we passed papers ! and we installed a laminate hardwood...from Lowes ..(similar to Pergo)
it looks awesome..in October we are taking up the vinyl inlaid in kitchen and baths and maybe reinforce the underflooring..and have tile put in...
oh and in the sunroom...we removed carpet..and put in ..can you believe a PEEL and stick tile and it looks soo nice...people think its real stone!

I have read and learned a lot about the manufactured homes. we live in a older model 14x80 and we need to paint, also and our thing that is most urgent is replacing the kitchen floor and cabinets we have dips in the kitchen floor that kids would love to slide on.
