Replacement Windows

Post by Beth » Thu Aug 18, 2005 9:40 am

We would like to replace the aluminum windows in our singlewide with vinyl replacement windows. Couple of question though. 1. Since we want to put in the doublepane windows vs the window/storm window type can this be made to fit? 2. Since our windows are odd measurements where can you find vinyl windows that don't cost an arm and a leg? 31 X 53

Most of the time, you can get vinyl replacement windows custom sized with no additional cost, the hard part is getting an exact measurment.
If you call around to find a decent contractor, not a window business, you can get a good deal.

There is a building center in Challis, Washington called V Js Bargan Barn. I do not have a phone number for them, but I am sure you can get it. They carry almost exclusively manufactured home builders items. If your windows are standard in your home (ie they have not been changed) my guess is VJs will have replacements. They are also reasonable. You need to call them with your measurements, they will tell you if they have replacements.

I am trying to replace windows using new vinyl windows. The size of the window is a strange size. The size of the opening is 34X34. So I guess I would need a 34X34 not including the flange. Do you know where I can order it? Thanks. Martha

Beth, Did you ever find your replacement windows at a reasonable cost. I am trying to replace an opening in the bathroom which is currently cover with jalouses pane which crank out with vinyl windows by removing the jalouses but leaving the frame. I want to use vinyl windows of the same size with flanges which we plan to screw into the frame. The size of the opening is about 34X34. I would need about 1/2 to 1 in flanges all around to screw into the aluminun frame left in the window. Do you have any idea where I can find this odd sizes. I want push up windows. Thanks Martha
