gurgling toilet, when other one is flushed

Post by Dorothy » Sun Jun 12, 2005 5:43 pm

Has anyone ever had this? We have 2 bathrooms, When the toilet is flushed in toilet #1, the toilet gurgles in toilet # 2. We have had a plumber in and couldn't fix it, we also had Rooter Rooter (Very Expensive) they cleaned out to the main sewer and found no problem. Is this just a weird manufactured home problem?

Your manufactured home is built with a drop down for each toilet. The drain lines in your home were tied together as part of the installation process. The problem your experiencing has nothing to do with the home being built in a factory. There is most likely, either a blockage causing the back-pressure or your drain pipes are not pitched the right way.

A blockage would be my guess also. Did roto rooter clean the lines in the home too?

Scott is most likely correct. I've seen this symptom in a site-built home when a wasp nest plugged the vent. I've also heard of a home owner who taped over all of "those open pipes" (vents) because they thought rain would go down them and cause a problem.

Where are the vents? Those pipes on the roof?

Thanks,

If it is a blocked vent...........where are these vents? We don't know where to look for them.

We had the same problem. The plumber came out he said the lines were clear.

Then a septic tank company came out. The problem was the septic tank was full,

and also had grease in it, after it was drained we did not have any more problems.

Our home is a 1,800 sq ft doublewide mobil. Only two of us live in the house for

the past 6 yrs. We were surprised that the tank was full, but we do not know how

it was before we moved in. The house is a 1996 model.

I recently had my bathrooms (2) replaced in a doublewide and I noticed the same problem, gurgling toilet and sometimes noises from the tub in bathroom no. 1.
I brought it to the attention of the plumber who replaced the fixtures and he told me everything has been installed according to code. A couple of weeks later, the noises stopped. I am confused, do I drain the septic tank or re-pitch the drain lines?
