Squeak in floor
Hi,i have a squeak in my kitchen floor.I own a 1998 Titan.The squeak is in front of my sink.The previous owner put nails or ccrews in the floor,but it still squeaks.It even squeaks when my cat walks over it.LOL. What can i do to fix this? Thanks, Sandi

If you go under home where squeak is, you can look up at the frame where joist cross it you will see a lag bolt head with a large washer under it. In most cases if tighten this bolt it will cause the squeak to go away.

One way to prevent squeaks in your is to install felt paper over an existing plywood floor, then install 1/4" plywood over the felt paper and install your vinyl tiles or lino over that. It seems to work well in most cases.

Squakes in floors are 90% the same problem over and over. The peirs or jacks have worked a bit lose. Due to weather like rain running under your home. Or just plan time will do it. Check your peirs in the area where the squeak is. You'll find some a bit lose Tighten the lose ones not too tight just as much as you can with no extra force. Then check the surrounding peirs to make sure they all are still tight. Doing this repair in most cases will take care of a squake. What causes a squeak is the floor having a gap between the 2x6 floor frame.
