residing with Brick or Rock

Post by Randi Van Vliet » Sat Feb 26, 2005 6:55 am

What can you tell me about residing our DW with Brick or Rock. We've thought it would add stability/strength as well as possible increase the value of the structure. We would do this work ourselves. We live in the South and I'm assuming these materials would be a bit cheaper than some other spots in the country.

We're also looking at adding an addition to the front and possible the back. But I'm concerned about resale issues. Would the additions help our hurt us?

Thanks

Mark

The only 'reside' you could do would be a veneer (which is what most 'brick' homes are), but this isn't really a DIY project.

As for the additions, depends on what they are, how they are done and if those items are popular in your area at the time you sell.

That being said, bricking the home won't change it's status as a manufactured home.

Consider using stucco it works great.... I live in a DW that has stucco from the roof line to the ground and it is indistinguishable from the stick built stucco homes around us..

I know of SEVERAL Mobile Homes in this area (Nebraska) that were added onto and bricked. It DOES change their status as a MH (here at least). They become a permanent structure. The appearence of the home has changed so much, that most cannot be identified as a MH. It can be a DIY project, but be sure you know how to do it first!

Good Afternoon,
I am wondering if anyone knows of any photo sites that show re-sided and re-modeled mobile homes to get ideas from?
Thanks,
Jennie
