Hello Mark -
When we talked I probably mentioned to you that I have this bad habit of adopting orphaned manufactured homes and working them back to new condition.
I am currently renovation a big beautiful double wide that was built in the early 80s. Some of the walls are covered with drywall but others have wood paneling. I was planning to tape and texture the entire home. We have done this a number of times with older drywall homes but never tried to spray the texture on wood paneling. The paneling was painted before. Can you tell me if the texture will hang on the painted wood?
thanks
David
Texture over painted wood paneling?
Re: Texture over painted wood paneling?
David,
Several years back I created a video on making paneled walls look just like textured sheetrock (see the book store).
I've done this and know of several others who have done it and all seems to be real happy with the results. Definitely a lot less work than putting up new sheetrock. Trick is in the priming of the paneling.

You gotta see my repair manual!

Re: Texture over painted wood paneling?
Years ago I came up with this Idea. I wanted to make my 1973 Goldenwest doublewide 24 X 70 MB look more like a house inside.
I knew that what makes a MH look like a MH inside is the panel and trim. If you have grooved panel and paint it. It looks like painted panel. Like crap. You must remove all the trim. The trim in places hide wide gaps also where the panel sheets met. When you finished go back and fill all the gaps with "DRYWALL MUD".
( About $6.00 for 10 pounds.) Then smear the mud all over the panel to fill the panel grooves. This is where you can get creative. Enjoy yourself do it thick or thin. What ever you do you will love the way it looks after you paint it. Ten pounds of mud you could a singlewide MH. Six dollars to remodel not bad I'd say.

We cleaned the walls in our home and then had them sprayed with orange peel and then repainted. It looks great
