Re: vinyl siding on older mobile
First vinyl requires a solid base to install. So check to see if you currently have the plywood sheathing behind your current siding. If not, that will have to be put up. Prior to putting up the sheathing, you can put up a product like Tvec insulation. If you already have the sheathing up, pull off your old siding and you can add a vapor barrier over that. Tom

The wrap won't add any insulation value, but may help reduce any drafts. However, there is a great debate among professionals as to whether or not house wrap is hurting a house by sealing it too tight and not letting moisture flow in and out as it should.

We resided our home this year and used TyVec. We have no drafts at this point. Our utility bill between the siding, tyvec and new windows is 1/4 less this winter so far.

Suzy -
House wrap is a good idea - it is easy to install, and relatively cheap. When you install it, be sure to use a product such as "Protect-O Wrap" around the windows. This is a 4" wide seal tape that insures the housewrap is sealed. It is available at HD or similar stores and will end drafts around windows/doors.
