Cleaning siding and roof

Post by Andrew H. » Sun Jul 06, 2003 9:50 pm

Hello all,

I am a totally newbie and I just purchased an older mobile home that needs some cleaning and a little TLC. I am totally new on this and need to know how to clean the sides and roof. I don't believe I want to power wash it, is that safe to do, or is there a better way to do it. Also, any tips on this or recommendations. I know it should be cleaned with a chlorine or bleach to water combination. The more information the better on this.....

Thanks a ton...

I too am afraid of using a power washer to clean my siding, I think it may be powerful enough to damage the siding. What I do each spring & fall is use a deck broom with semi-soft bristles & a regular household cleaner (such as 409 or Fantastic). I make a soultion of cleaner & water in a bucket, dip the broom in & scrub. Rinse off- it works like a charm. If you have tougher stains, I would recomend using a 1:1 mixture of bleach & a little extra scrubbing. That should be enough to remove most stains. Good luck.
