WILL I BE WARM ????
WILL I BE WARM ????
i recently bought a 27 year old Parkwood 14X70 mobile home for $300.00 The furnace is the original one from the factory. The burner is a Beckett..Can anyone give me a rough idea if i will be able to keep warm in this old home and how much oil can i expect to use? Other mobile home owners around me with trailers the same age tell me they use 1 1/2 tanks of oil for a season. (275 gal. tank) they tell me i am worrying for nothing...they say it will keep the place cozy and warm...i dont know....i dont have any money to do any fixin' so it will have to do this heating season...anywhey it is located in a park in North Central Pennsylvania on the side of a hill with lots of wind
Re: WILL I BE WARM ????
Well, I dont think we can predict due to the fact we dont know if the furnace has been serviced in several years or even more important how well the place is insulated. Homes of your vintage have thin sidewalls and if not insulated well, dont hold back the wind all that well. Tom
Re: WILL I BE WARM ????
Thanks...i ws told that this home fell under the HUD regulations and that it had 2x4 walls with insulation factor R-13...i do know that the furnace was serviced every year and i heard it operate...it purrs....this mobile home (Parkwood) was the Cadillac of mobile homes in its time...I am sure that the floors are 2x6's on 16 inch centers...very unusual for old mobile homes...also it has factory built 8 foot ceilings...and doors are standard house doors....so it is a real quality built home...and if i must say in excellent condition....
Re: WILL I BE WARM ????
Well I think you answered your own question. This home is set up basically the same as newer homes of today. So if the furnace holds up its end and your skirting and belly are in good shape, you should be all set. I miscalculated the date, and was speaking as tho it was a pre Hud home. Tom
