Water damage

Post by Matt Hott » Mon Jan 12, 2004 2:05 pm

Hi,
I bought a home in Lochbuie Co in Oct 03. The dryer vent goes through the floor and into the crawl space under the home. There is a sign next to the dryer vent saying that this should not be done, it should run to the outside of the home, however there seems to be a good vapor barrier under the house but some of it needs to be repaired as there was a water leak and some of the insalation got wet. There is also a 12"x4" vent to the outside of the home 6' away from the vent in the floor, so do I still need to run it to the outside? Thank you for your time, Matt

Tracy

Matt,
Its kinda funny to me when you said Lochbuie,CO. I did the majority of the homes for Saturn Homes as a warranty tech. from the factory..

Anyway, the answer to your question is yes.. The dryer vent needs to be vented to the outside or you have condensation that start rusting the I-beams under the home and with enough condensation being pumped under the home, I have even seen mold on the interior walls from this..

Spend the x-tra time and you will be a lot happier in the long run.
