heating noises

Post by louise » Sun Dec 28, 2003 11:48 pm

we recently purchased our home (june03) and turned on our heat for the first time and now each time the system comes on we hear noises (rattling and creaking) in different parts of the home. What is causing this? is it expensive to fix? This is ou first MH and we don't know what to do.

This is a common complaint from new MH owners. The ducts for your heating are under the floor and not out of the way in a crawl space or basement such as a stick built home would be. So the result is you hear the metal in the ducts expanding and contracting from cold to warm as the air moves thru them. Nothing to worry about at all. In fact as time goes on you will find you dont even notice it. Tom

Thanks Tom for your reply. Being a new MH owner I am glad I found this web site. Thanks again !

I have also found that "some" metal ducts that pop can be fixed by removing the floor registers and pushing down on the duct to get rid of kinks. I have also had to add a brick in the duct to help with the noises you get with the heat and cooling of the metal duct work
