REPAIRING ROOF
REPAIRING ROOF
I WOULD LIKE INFORMATION ON ROOF REPAIRS.I HAVE A 1989 PINEGROVE MOBILE HOME{14x70} CAN I PUT ANOTHER LAYER OF SHINGLES OVER THE EXISTING ROOF,WITHOUT HAVING TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ROOF FROM SCRATCH?! HOW MUCH WEIGHT CAN THIS ROOF SUPPORT? I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFORMATION THAT YOU COULD GIVE ME ABOUT ROOF REPAIRS. THANKYOU,EVELYN
Re: REPAIRING ROOF
One extra layer would be fine, but no more. If you have had any leaks in the past, it might not be a good idea however, due to possible hidden roof deck damage. Also not a good idea if you live in an area that gets very heavy snowfalls. Tom
Re: REPAIRING ROOF
Also take into consideration spacing and rafter size. I also agree that one additional layer is okay if you dont live in a heavy snowload region.

Re: REPAIRING ROOF
These days most carpenters (at least in my area) rarely put new shingles over old. They won't last as long, and generally you'll need roof deck repairs so you'll have to take some off anyway.
