that buying a mobile home is well worth it. He is concerned about plumbing, and water pressure issues. He thinks they are junk and worthless. I look at it this way we would be not in debt so much, low house payments, tax incentives still, and still have a home. Please help!! Barbara

What water pressure problems? I have been in many a mobile home and the only water pressure problems I have seen or experienced is when there isn't enough pressure from the water main to the home to begin with. And now you can design your on plans, and the construction in these homes is sturdy, and well built. Most now have 2x6's used instead of 2x4's or 2x2's like in the past. The mobile homes of today are nothing like the tin boxes of yesteryear. I should know, as we live in one of the older ones.(1970 Topper). And are remodeling it from front to back.We had planned on buying a brand new one,but circumstances would not permit it at this time. PLUS,there is Another Advantage to owning a mobile home,If you should ever have to move, you can take the home with you, instead of having to leave it behind and find another.
HOPE THIS HELPS .

Tough project for us to tell you how to convince your hubby...My suggestion is might be to find a sales person at a dealership that is particularly skilled in construction and has some good homes to offer...Talk hubby into meeting and listening...

Maybe..buy Randy's How to buy book in the bookstore here...Many of the suggestions are valid even if you are looking at standard new stick built homes...

If he is web active...we can help with many useful links to all kinds of information...More than most are interested in in fact..

When talking to a hubby about housing...ladies need to remember a few things...Most importantly..men see housing much different than women (in general)...To them it is a place to sleep....Many men would just as well be happy with a tent is it is dry...Women see housing completely differently...They see a home...a place to raise the family...a place to develope memories..Much more emotional...but much more realistic as to what a home really is...A home is much more than a pile of boards, nails, appliances......A home is family..

There are many manufactured homes that far surpass the stick built homes that most working folks can afford...The trick for you is to find a good one.. and get him into it...Good Luck

I wish I could convince him to go the cheaper route, but we will see. Financing seems to be giving us a hard time at this moment. Bad credit, low downpayment ($2,000) but yet I am surviving, (barely) with a $950 dollar rental payment. The house is rent to own, but the problems we have had in just a year, it doesnt seem worth it. Thanks alot for the opinions. Feel free to list more. Again Thank You :-)

My main question, is do you plan to live in it for a significant period of time?

I bought my home (Dutch 28' X 66') with every intention of living and retiring in it. However, am presently involved in a divorce. To the best information I can obtain, the home is now worth half the loan payoff. You must however keep in mind that I am in a park on rented land.

As far as taking them with you. I am not sure how feasable that is. I have heard they almost never go back to together as well due to the necessity using used materials. Maybe others can speak from experience on that note.

Mike
