Which way should I go?

Post by John » Sun Aug 14, 2005 10:32 am

I recently bought some property in the Pocono area of Pa. I plan to put a vacation home with the intent on maing it a retirement home in approx. 10 yrs.

I have looked at both Modular homes and Manufactured homes. I lik the New era modular home and both the Redman and Champion Homes -manufactured. I have though about buying the manufactured and having a 5/12 roof pitch put on it, and having the interior sheetrocked instead of gypsum board. Also, I plan to put this home on a full basement.

My. questions are these:

1. Which would I get more bang for my buck with -the manufactured with all the sheetrocking and roof pitch or the modual which comes standard with the sheetrock and roof pitch?

2. Which home would last longer (both would be maintained) -manufactured or modular?

3. Would I just do better going with the modular or the manufactured?

4. Which is the better home -New Era, Redman or Champion?

5. Does anyone know of a good responible dealer in the Scranton, Pa. area ?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I am very familar with the homes you mentioned and the dealers in the North Eastern part of PA.
First of all, NEW Era, builds a great home, it will last you forever.
Champion and Redman are both decent, and Champion just bought New Era, however, the Modular New Era is twice the home of any manufactured home.
Do yourself a favor, by new era.
Now...there are some bad dealers in your part of the state. make sure you buy In-State! Do not by from wyoming or great American, or tri-state.
