dealer problems

Post by dave&kathie » Thu Feb 17, 2005 8:59 pm

My wife and I bought a new triple wide from a Sacramento dealer who delivers and sets up the home for a predetermined price. We told the dealer several times not to deliver the home if it could not be delivered and installed before the rainy season began, because it has to be pulled up a big hill. The home was delivered without any prior notice, and the sub-contractor that is supposed to install the home, could not schedule an appointment for us until a week later. The rain started three days before they showed up,and now its too wet to get the home up the hill. We don't mind storing the home until spring or summer if we have to,but the dealer won't help us seal or block the home up for winter. The dealer keeps calling and complaining about the intrest he has to pay on the invoice because we refuse to close the loan on the home until it has been installed and we can move in.We feel like the dealer is at fault for not coordinating the delivery of the home, and he should help us seal up the home for winter storage.Does anyone have any advice for us? Thanks.

I agree with Mr Murray. The installation is clearly the sellers responsability. If the home is not installed to your satisfaction do not sign or pay for any portion. Payment to the seller is the only control you have over events. I would be very concerned If the home not sealed against the rain.

Question: Where is the home being stored?

It is VERY important to get some blocking under the house. If this is not stored on the dealer's lot call me and I'll try to get someone to help you. It shouldn't be that expensive to do minimal blocking to keep the sections level and take some of the strain off the frame. 1-530-534-6467
