Dear Chrissy,
Looking for info on Mobile Home Park opportunities. In the next year or two my wife and I want to move to the Florida area. We are looking for a change in our careers, both have extensive backgrounds in finance, Human Resources, management and computers.
My question is: can we prepare for a Management Team Position at this time by taking any of the courses you offer, or do we need to first be involved with the industry?
In your opinion, what is the best avenue to take to reach our goals? We would like to be involved in whatever capacity, whether full time, part time, Management or part of a management team.
Sorry for all the questions, but we would appreciate any info you could give on this subject
Thank you
Jack and Mary Jane Schroeder

Re: Info on Mgt Team Opportunities
Some property management companies hire couples with no experience, but most want at least a little bit of expertise. The manufactured home community management business is changing drastically and many changes are legislatively driven, making operations in different states very different indeed. The Accredited Community Management Classes I teach require you to be in the industry in some capacity in order to enroll. My advice to you is to talk with the HR department in various property management companies. Sending out tons of resumes is probably useless. You need to get someone's ear first, then direct your resume to them, emphasizing the skills you now have that will benefit you in this transition of career.
