Dog Mess in MHP

Post by Vivienne » Wed Sep 08, 2004 9:07 am

Dea All,

Is there anything I can do short of getting confrontational with my neighbors about them letting there dogs mess in my garden? My husband and I live in a nice mobile home park in KS with our 18 month old son and I can't let him out to play in our garden or the provided childrens park for the fear of him getting in the mess

I have asked the management to do something about the probelm of people letting their dogs do what they want, and owners letting their dogs run loose, but they say "they can't do anything unless I find out where the animals are comming from"

Everyday I have to go and pick up dogs mess on our part of lawn, and wash our porch steps down, please, is there anything that I can do to make the management deal with this problem. It clearly states in our rental agreements that "No animals are allowed to be unleashed, or unsupervised whilst outside".

I have written a letter to the management and sent pictures to them of dogs running loose in the park, but have no response.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Of all the problems in community life, issues with animals are at or near the top of everyone's list. On behalf of management, it is nearly impossible to "prove" whose dog did what where. So, that means they need proof. And it also means they need help from you. If you know for sure it is your neighbors, get a picture - that's fool proof and sure. Talk to them yourself, and give a written complaint with the picture to management. If you don't know who owns the dogs, get pictures of the animals doing their thing, then work with management to identify the owners. Finally, please acknowledge that even though this is a violation of the rules in your community, most judges will not evict a homeowner for this one violation even if it occurs with maddening regularity! You have my sincere sympathy; I hope some of this will help you.

Maybe the management would let you put up a small fence.

I have had some success with getting a lage jar of pepper and shaking it around the perimeter of the yard...dogs sniff once and move on...of course it has to be re-applied when it rains...

The next thing I'm going to try is putting tabasco sauce (diluted) in a garden sprayer and spraying the perimeter of the yard...
