Pool

Post by Gayle » Wed Jul 30, 2003 11:27 pm

Hi, My Mom's a Manager for a moblehome park that's family oriented. We have a play ground for the kids and a beautiful swimming pool and spa for everyone. Every summer is a hassle enforcing the pool rules. Like, swimming suits only, 14 and under must be with parents, etc. We have cameras aimed at the pool and spa so when she sees an infraction she has to go out there in person. We thought about having all residents getting a key to get in area, or a teenager who lives here monitor everyone. There mostly hispanics who don't speak english. We have pool rules posted everywhere in the vicinity. Any suggestions? Thanks, Sincerely, Gayle

Be sure the rules are posted in Spanish....Many new immigrants have a hard time reading English..

I manage a 135 space community that has the same probems with children. Here are some of the things I've done ... Have a "Pool Manager" - this person opens and closes the pool at a specific time each day. we now use pool passes that resident's are required to take to the pool. No pass and they do not use of the pool. With regards to the age of children swimming alone, we increased the age to 18 years old. Also, they must provide ID to show proof. This did cut down on some of the horseplay but not all of it. Amazing how parents allow their children to act! Next year I may try having a paid lifeguard. Not quite sure how I plan to fund this but it is worth a try. Maybe have a "special fee" for pool use?

Good luck!
