cathedral ceilings

Post by linda marin » Sun Nov 28, 2004 1:26 pm

We have purchased a 30-year old double-wide- and will do extensive remodeling over the next 2-3 years..
We are investigating the feasability of having some form of a lifted ceiling. If not that, then skylights would be second best.
We need some advice - before we give up on the cathedral ceiling idea!
Thank you

I am not an engineer....changing the ceiling height would be very major change of the whole roof structure....The roof rafters are directly above the ceiling materiel..I can see no way to raise the ceiling without cutting rafters...I doubt this would be a good idea...

There are many types of skylights that will work..

Go with the skylights, I am 99.9% certain you will not get a cathedral ceiling without removing the roof system. E.
