Need advice on buying

Post by Elly » Sun Oct 03, 2004 6:49 pm

My parent's Redman doublewide MH was ruined in the last hurricane, and they are looking to replace it. Can anyone give me advice on what to look for - and to look out for? For example, I saw in some of the new models that the air vents are in the middle of the floor: What's up with that? And do you know of any good makers/manufacturers?

Thanks.

In Florida all quality manufactured homes have overhead ducts..The ones you see with ducts in the floor are the most basic of the bunch..

There are many different homes to chose from in FL...Some of the best in the industry are there..as well as some of the most basic are there...All new homes will have to meet the wind zone requirements...but that does not mean good cabinets..flooring..interior walls..floor covering..there still is a large divergence of quality ranges available to your parents..My guess is they want a home they do not have to worry about..for the rest of their lives...

You might invest in one of the e-books available in the bookstore here for insider construction info...these books are a cheap investment to help you get up to speed quickly.....Unfortunately most of the best homes have a order time of a few months right now..they should start the process asap to help keep their period of unsettledness as short as possible..

Some of the top brands in your state...Palm Harbor, Jacobson and some of the better Homes of Merits..

Good Luck...glad to hear they are fine..
