Palm Harbor vs. Silvercrest

Post by M.J.Bradley » Sun Aug 29, 2004 5:38 am

I currently live in a manf. home and am planning to sell it and relocate to northern Arizona. I would appreciate any and all information regarding a comparison between Palm Harbor and Silvercrest. I am having difficulty finding a distributor for Silvercrest in Arizona, however, I truly love the designs of their homes. I have access to Palm Harbor distributors and live in a park with many of their models. Any guidance and information is truly appreciated. Thank You.

There is a Silvercrest dealer in Hereford, AZ (Sierra Vista), and they will come to you to talk about their homes. We saw a few in Hereford that they were putting in parks but that's it.

You'll be spending $6-8000 just for delivery, since all the factories are out of California. They also have a CA price tag. They have wonderful, non-manuf home floorplans, but you could probably upgrade a Palm Harbor to that point with the money you save by not ordering a Silvercrest.

When Silvercrest came out to see us, I found that while they looked exceptional and have exceptional options, many options weren't included in the price they gave us, which was really high. Such as flooring, 2x6 walls, etc.

Somebody on this site said Chino Valley's Palm Harbor dealer was wonderful. You may want to try Karsten as well. They will have some upgrades that Palm Harbor won't offer.

Thank you so much for replying to my request for info. I will definitely check out the Palm Harbor dealer in Chino Valley. I have corresponded with them via email about their homes. I have never seen a Karsten home, but will certainly check that out, as well. I was not aware that CA prices were higher than AZ. Guess I should have thought about that - - especially since I lived in CA for 17 years and am very happy to be out of that state! Living there nearly bankrupted me! One of the manf. here in AZ told me a few weeks ago that 'investors' from CA had just visited their plant and ordered 3 homes to be delivered to locations in Phoenix for spcec. homes! Back to the search. Thanks again for your reply.
