buying a new home

Post by chantay » Mon Apr 24, 2006 5:11 pm

I am buying a new home and I wanted to know what would be the best place to put a carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher. How many should I have and should they be low enough for my 7 year old son to reach.

Depends on your 7-year-old. As to the CO detector, swing by Home Depot or a hardware store, and read the box.

I don't know about them being low enough for your son. We have a carbon monoxide detector in our hallway and a small fire extinguisher in the kitcher that my 5 (almost 6) year old daughter can reach. I suppose it depends on how "responsible" your son is. My daughter is really good about things like safety, but my son who is about to turn 4 will "test" things and it would not be a good decision for me to put it somewhere where he will notice it because he will try and use it.
