FHA, Doublewide, moved once.

We are looking at a double wide on 2 acres of land. FHA approved the mortgage then disapproved the mortgage because the home was moved to current property from another site and not from the manufacturer. I've found several references to this but no reaasoning as to why. Can anybody clear this up for me? Thanks I appreciate the help. Howie

No good answer as to why can be had....FHA expects quite a good warranty....And a regulated set up...Used homes have none of these...Go fins a new one...you will most likely still qualify for this home..

What is the reasoning behind this requirement? Is there a way to appeal this? The home was moved by the same dealer who moved it to the original site, 5 years later the home was bought and the original dealer moved it to the new property. Thanks, Howie

If you can explain any government rule...you are doing better than me...there is NO possible appeal of this requirement...This is a FHA regulation Not a lender rule..it would nearly take an act of Congress to force a change...Call your Congressman and complain...

The reason is that the HUD code program only applies to a new home to the first purchaser. If there is a defect with a home that was moved from the first site, the manufacturer can obsolve himself from responsibilty as a result of that move.
