How do I check out a Manufactured Home Dealer?
How do I check out a Manufactured Home Dealer?
My husband and I want to purchase a new Silvercrest. There are a number of dealers within 100 miles. Are the dealers licensed like realtors are? Who licenses the dealers? How do I check to see if a dealer is reliable? In particular, Ma Williams in Hemet, CA, or Sav On Homes in Beaumont, CA.
Re: How do I check out a Manufactured Home Dealer?
The state licenses the dealers, I once shopped for 6 months before I found a dealer I thought I could trust.
One thing that you do, is make double sure, anything that is promised or told to you that they will do, make sure you get it in writing approved by the owner, not just the salesman.
Another important thing to consider is who sets their homes, do they back up their work, is there a warranty.

Re: How do I check out a Manufactured Home Dealer?
Excellent advice! We're investigating buying a small parcel here in Central California, about an acre, and putting a mfg home on a perm foundation. Have contacted a dealer in Paso Robles, BJ Home Sales, which is part of a larger dealership called Pacific Home Sales, hdqtrd in San Diego county. Have checked PH Sales out on BBB website; the San Diego office of BBB gives them a "satisfactory" rating. Anyone reading this blog ever checked into or done business with Pacific Home Sales offices? They're located in several So Cal cities and San Joaquin Valley. I've asked the salesperson at BJ for references to their customers who have purchased Palm Harbor homes in last 12 months. Thanks for any/all help provided!

Re: How do I check out a Manufactured Home Dealer?
It can really be simple! Ask the retailer for testimonials from the last ten or so buyers from his location.
Re: How do I check out a Manufactured Home Dealer?
You would do well to buy a Palm Harbor!! One thing I have found is that there construction is far more superior than others. Not to mention they are very reputable in the industry! They are the only builder that carries an Earth Advantage rating.... This means they are the most energy effiecient!! Good luck and buy smart! Tom
Re: How do I check out a Manufactured Home Dealer?
I have been to rookie school, vet school..and 3 plant schools..I have never heard the term.."Earth Advantage Rating"...Which brochure will I find this in...???.. Might you mean "Energy Star Labeled" as an energy designation???
