Hi, we have been looking for a mobile home and have found a Fleetwood Tradition Series. Would like to know if Fleetwood is a good product? I do not care for General or Homes of Merit. I live in Georgia. Thank you

Fleetwood has a very bad reputation for service. Talk to any Fleetwood homeowners. They will varify this fact for you!

Fleetwood has for many years and continues to build a lot of different homes across the country. They build some high end products and some economy homes and some that are right in the middle of the pack. Often you get what you pay for. But if your not an educated consumer you can make the wrong decisions
Consider doing some serious research for yourself before you buy any home. Here are some suggested reading items for home shoppers from the MH BOOK STORE.
A Complete Buyers Guide to Manufactured Homes and Land - E-Book Edition Purchasing any new home is a complex process that presents a big challenge even to the smartest of home shoppers. Veteran author and journalist John Grissim learned this when he and his wife purchased their first manufactured home. His discoveries inspired him to research and write this comprehensive buyer's guide. John has become a well-respected new voice for the consumer. In an unusual move, the MHI invited John to present a workshop at its 2003 Expo in Las Vegas, called "Our industry through an outsider's eyes" in which he delivered a hard hitting, no-nonsense view. Written by a consumer for consumers, this no-nonsense, highly readable guide explains just how the manufactured home industry operates, exposes its secrets, and teaches you how to find a dealer worthy of your trust, how to make the right home selection, how to accurately determine the fair price of a home. Exhaustively researched, with extensive input from both industry insiders and consumer advocates, this guide contains much information that retailers, even the good guys, don't want you to know. Another good place to check out homes is the shows that several states put on throughout the year. Here in Des Moines, Iowa, we have one in March with several dealers under one roof at the Varied Industries Building at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Several financiers are in the homes to assist would-be buyers with their purchase. You can compare quality right there. Remember-it isn't the bells and whistles, it is what is underneath them that makes up the structure of the home.

I am looking into buying an 05' Waterford 3bd/2ba home here in California. It is almost 1700 sf. and will be placed in a park. The price for this one is over 200,000 and I've been having a time finding financing because it is not on private property. Altho' Fleetwood does offer financing it is with 10 or 20% down, which is more than what we've saved for a down payment. Do you know of anyone who would finance for 3% down or less? As it is home prices are outrageous here and if you are a first time buyer, forget it, so basically this is our last option. Thank you in advance for your reply!

Hi,
Try Art Bando ph# (408)296-6469--he knows reasonable lenders in the Silicon Valley.
I too am trying to purchase a mobile home and am running into snags (not to mention trying to erase identity theft credit errors on my credit report to improve my score --which takes forever.) I have 10 yrs college and a Master's degree and am finding that fewer and fewer of us middle class can afford the American Dream in this expensive California. Ive been paing taxes for 25 yrs and cant afford a pot to piss in! I also have paid out about enough in monthly rent over the last 20 yrs to afford a house---but little did I know when it was my time to go into the market--I cant afford crap. Should I forward this email to Swartzenegger and Pres. Bush? ;o)
Let me know what you find out.

$200K seems a lot for 1700 sq ft. Take a look at www.marshadavis.com for some alternatives. If you pay less for the home then your 3% turns into 10% or more.
