San Jose CA HCD Permits

Has anyone reading this moved a used mobile home from one mobile home park to another in California, in the past few years? I would be willing to pay this person as a consultant to help us deal with the contractor and finish the job.

We have bought a 2001 Fleetwood home and are moving it to our lot in a mobile home park in San Jose CA.

We need help in dealing with our contractor who keeps stalling and making up excuses. Our problem now is getting California installation permits. So far we have received many promises, but few results, while we are spending extra money to live in an apartment.

To get the CA Hcd permits, can the application FORMS be copies or do they have to be originals? I am assuming the signatures must be originals. How many forms are needed and what are their numbers?

You will need an HCD50 application for permit to construct which will allow for installation and stairs. Typically, if you fill out and send in fees overnight mail you will have permit within the week. These forms must be originals (they are quadruplicate forms). Also a HCD538 plot plan which shows the setbacks and what you are proposing to do including carports, cabanas, etc. You will need to submit 3 of these.
HCD has public mail out packages available if you call them, they have a website : http://www.hcd.ca.gov/ Application fee is $120.00

Remember, in California, the lot has to be prepped as well. This means compacted baserock crowned in the middle to drain which has to be done before bringing in the new home. Installer will need to provide a "Tiedown system Certification (HCD.TSC)" to inspector when installation is performed. Also, inspector will want to be shown lot corners so make sure that this is resolved with the park manager before beginning installation. Corner markers must be in place to measure setbacks. Why do the forms themselves have to be originals? Isn't it the signatures that have to be original and not the form. So do you mean only the quadruplicate form, not a PDF printout or fax?

Sorry, been on vacation. The quadruplicate forms have information on both sides. One will be returned with permit. Also, installers are licensed by the state of California, go to their website at http://www.cslb.ca.gov/ for information.
