Hiya,
wow, I had no idea that today I would purchase a mobile home but the price seemed to good to pass up. I payed $4,500 cash for a 1996 model. 3 bedrooms ,2 full baths , fireplace , huge deck on back , the trailer was well kept and looks nice on the inside and out. Of course, I didnt consult my wife first but I figured she would be happy to get out of the apartment scene. Oh Well after a big hiss fit she finally agreed that she liked it. I will never do that again !
My questions are:
Can we wallpaper over the stuff on there already , what is that wall material called ?
The kitchen has a island with a big wooden vent that hangs over the stove, she does not like the look of the vent hanging down although it looks nice, can we remove that ?
It has a fireplace that can either be used with wood or gas, whats best ?
The master bathroom has flat mirrors over the sinks...it has 2 sinks on each side of the bathroom, can these mirrors be replaced with conventional bathroom mirrors that have storage inside ?
There are 1 inch strips of molding on all the walls can these be removed or are they hoding something together ?
Can you put wood type flooring in ( parkay, or whatever that is called? ) manufactured homes ?
Did I mention that I was on the last lot with my backyard in a golf course.
I am paying $245 per month for the lot and thats it. Thought it was a good deal
Thanks
Jeff

Re: Interior Designing Questions
Almost sounds like one of those too good to be true tales....Do you have the title..remember folks often have mortgages on these homes..
You can redecorate any way you want..
The range hood is there for safety reasons as well as to vent away cooking residue..I doubt you should do away with the range hood...
The wall strips cover the space between the sheets of sheetrock...You can remove them and finish the whole home with the taped and painted look if you please...or wall paper over the seams..but often you will have to fill the gaps first...The bookstore here has a manual available that goes into the process of a taped and painted finish for your walls...
Medicine cabinets are not in fashion now...but they are still sold in building supply places...the problem you might have is that the sinks might not be centered right so that the recessed cabinets that go between wall stud will be in the right place..

Re: Interior Designing Questions
Thanks for replying with the information. Yes....I have the title. The trailer park is trying to get out of the business of owning the trailers and just concentrate on the owned lots...that was there reason. They had aproxxmatley 18 units that were previously selling for around 17,500 and all were marked down to this price.
Thanks
