Where do we go from here?

We are purchasing a PH home. This home was sold and delivered, but never set up for the original owner. It has never been lived in. We were told it would be restored to new condition. We have been working on this for exactly 10 months. The home was finally delivered to us in April and is not complete yet, but we are told they should complete it within a day or two of starting on it again. Are we expecting too much if we ask that the repairs be done as promised or should we accept what they are trying to give us. Here are a few of the examples: the cherry molding doesn't even meet in some places, in other places there is pink stuff not brown packed in; some of the damaged sheetrock has what looks like caulking in it (it really stands out); some of the paint job is an entirely different color of paint; the ceramic tile along the marriage line is uneven. The dealer is making us feel as though we are asking too much and too many questions. Any suggestions?

You haven't provided much information. A critical question at this juncture is: Have you paid them in full for the PH? It is always good idea to hold back a small portion of the full price until everything is completed. Also what kind of written agreement and warranty did you get?

You may be able to complain to the manufacturer if you cannot get satisfaction from the dealer. Also perhaps you may be able to complain to state / federal agencies. You may possibly have to pay for the repairs yourself and then take the dealer to small claims court.

New condition is new condition. What brown / pink stuff is packed in? Do you mean insulation? If so, color's not important, but that should be inside something when all is done.

Is this a new or used home..you have not said..You said it was delivered but not set...could be either..

If it is a new home you have all of the benefit of the full PH warranty...You should have a factory toll free number...Did you buy this home from a Palm Harbor owned sales center???

You are spending large amounts of money and the home should be all you were told it would be....If it is new...it should be new...slight shop wear on model homes is acceptable but major problems are not...

If this was from a PH sales center...talk directly to the GM...Ask him/her to visit and show them all the problems...ask for a resolution and a basic time frame...If this was an independent dealership...Ask to talk to the owner..and ask them to come by...
